Most of money for purchased wheat and rapeseed paid to farmers in Iran's Qazvin Province

About 94 percent of the value of wheat and 99 percent of rapeseed has been paid to farmers in the Qazvin Province (northwestern Iran) from the beginning of the wheat harvesting season in Iran (April 4) to August 16, said Mehdi Mazhari director of Government Trading Corporation (GTC) of Iran’s branch in Qazvin Province, Trend reports citing the corporation’s website.

The director emphasized that to date, 196,500 tons of wheat has been purchased in the province. More than 4.61 trillion rials (about $109 million) has been paid to wheat farmers, so far.

Mahzari added that so far, 7,260 tons of rapeseed has been purchased in the province. The value of the rapeseed purchased was more than 326 billion rials (about $7.76 million).

"More than 325 billion rials (about $7.73 million) has been paid to farmers in connection with the purchase of rapeseed," he said.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set at 25,000 rials (about 59 cents), and of durum wheat - at 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). The price of rapeseed is set at 46,600 rials (about $1.1) per kilogram.

A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products are purchased from farmers by a state company under a guarantee in Iran.
