New railway vehicles put into operation in Iran

Some 70 railway vehicles were put into operation in Iran today (September 7), Trend reports citing the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran’s official portal.

According to the report, today, 59 new freight wagons, 2 new passenger wagons, and 9 repaired locomotives were put into operation.

“About 730 billion rials (about $17.3 million) has been spent on railway vehicles put into operation today, the report said.

As many as 329 railway vehicles worth 5.67 trillion rials (about $135 million) have been commissioned in five stages from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date. This is an increase of 52 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year, the report added.

Furthermore, 56 railway vehicles worth 1.25 trillion rials (about $29.7 million) were put into operation in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 20-April 19).

Also, 88 railway vehicles worth 1.44 trillion rials (about $34.2 million) were put into operation in the second month of the current Iranian year (April 20-May 20, 2020).

On June 30, 2020, 65 locomotives, freight and passenger wagons worth 1.56 trillion rials (about $37.1 million) were commissioned.

Also, on July 26, 2020, 50 freight wagons and locomotives worth 690 billion rials (about $16.4 million) were commissioned.
