Iran`s Industry Ministry repays debts to farmers
TEHRAN, Iran, Sep. 15
Iranian Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade said that 8.2 million tons of wheat have been purchased by the Ministry since the beginning of the current Iranian year (started on March 20) and $4.9 million of the cost was paid to wheat farmers.
“The payment of wheat to farmers and the amount of guaranteed purchase of wheat in current Iranian Year (started on March 20, 2020) compared to the same period last year has increased by 56 percent and 7 percent, respectively,” the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Yazdan Seif said, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
Seif emphasized that about 95 percent of the total wheat purchased value has been paid to farmers so far, and the rest of the claims will be paid soon.
“The guaranteed purchase price of wheat for the current year has increased by 47 percent compared to last year meaning 59 cents per kilogram,” he said.
He went on to predict that the purchase of wheat will reach about 8.4 million tons, in which case we will have a growth of 8 to 9 percent compared to the previous year.
