Iran to settle all wheat farmers' claims

TEHRAN, Iran, Oct. 23

All the Iranian wheat farmer claims have settled by the government, Director General of the Internal Procurement Department of the State Trade Company of Iran said.

"This year, the government have bought 8.225 million tons of wheat from more than 1,100 farmers across the country, the value of which reaches $4.9 million which, in terms of weight is 7 percent more than the previous year, Director General of the Internal Procurement Department of the State Trade Company of Iran Morteza Saadati Kia said, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Also, in terms of value, it has increased by 55 percent and the guaranteed purchase price has increased by 47 percent compared to last year,” he added.

“Meanwhile, the guaranteed purchase rate was 4 cents last year, it reached 59 cents this year,” he said.

Saadati Kia announced that 94 percent of the demands of wheat farmers have been settled in September and the remaining 6 percent, equal to $285 million was paid in October.

"Of course, the purchase season continues until the end of December,” he added.
