Turkmenistan, South Korea aim to intensify co-op within intergovernmental commission

Turkmenistan and South Korea have noted the importance of intensifying mutual dialogue within the framework of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Korean Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation (IGC), Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

This was stated during a videoconference between Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Hadjiev and Deputy Foreign Minister of South Korea Kim Gunn.

The sides said that the regular consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries are a platform for developing political and diplomatic cooperation, as well as building up the partnership between Turkmenistan and South Korea.

The parties also stressed the effective cooperation of public and private structures of the two countries in the implementation of major projects in the oil and gas and chemical sectors of the economy with the involvement of Korean technologies.

During the discussions, the importance of cooperation in the field of science and education was noted, and the success of cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), including the process of the Turkmen side joining the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI).

The sides also expressed the need for further development and strengthening of cooperation in the field of public health, exchange of experience in the field of prevention of the spread of coronavirus.

Earlier, Turkmenistan and Korea identified steps to develop cooperation in the fields of investment, energy, textile industry, shipbuilding, and digital technologies.
