Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan discloses revenues from 2020 agricultural export

Agricultural products worth over $103.1 million were exported from Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in 2020, Trend reports on Jan.26 referring to the report of Nakhchivan’s State Statistical Committee.

As reported, the creation of a reliable food supply system has increased export potential.

During the mentioned year, a special attention was paid to the reconstruction of reclamation and irrigation systems. Reclamation measures were carried out on 73 hectares of lands liberated from (Armenian) occupation in the Sadarak district (in June 2018), the report said.

Meanwhile, measures on protection and restoration of the forest fund, establishment of new green spaces were taken. Besides, forest exploration and plantation work was carried out on an area of ​​586 hectares, and 404,000 trees and bushes were planted.

As a result of the measures taken last year, agricultural products worth over 537.5 million manat ($316.18 million) were produced in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which is 4.6 percent more than in 2019.

By the order of Azerbaijan’s President dated April 23, 2020 ‘on additional measures to improve the provision of irrigation water in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and to meet the needs of the population in drinking water’, funds worth 1 million manat ($588,235) were allocated to Nakhchivan’s Cabinet of Ministers.
