Exports of Iran's agricultural products increase

The exports of Iran's agricultural products increased by 6.1 percent in terms of value and 23.2 percent in terms of volume during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through February 18, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Deputy Director of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Mehrdad Jamal Arvanaghi said, Trend reports citing the IRICA.

According to Arvanaghi, Iran exported 7.8 million tons of agricultural products worth more than $5.5 billion within 11 months.

Arvanaghi added that while in the same period last Iranian year, Iran exported 6.3 million tons of products worth $5.2 billion.

“The exports of Iran's main 10 agricultural products amounted to 3 million tons worth $2.4 billion,” he said.

The deputy director noted that so, 161,000 tons of pistachios worth $1 billion, 722,000 tons of apples worth $276 million and 17,900 tons of pistachio kernel worth about $200 million were exported.

“As well as 207,000 tons of tomatoes worth $159 million, 317,000 tons of tomatoes worth $145 million, 665,000 tons of watermelons worth $148 million, 117,000 tons of dates worth $128 million, sweets worth $128 million, and 385,000 tons of onions worth $107 million were exported,” the official stressed.

As reported, Iran's foreign trade turnover for 11 months amounted to 134 million tons worth $65.5 billion.

So, Iran exported 103 million tons of goods worth $31.2 billion and imported 30.8 million tons worth $34.3 billion over the reporting period.
