The value of Iran’s imports increased by 12 percent ($448 million) in the 12th month of the last Iranian year (February 19 through March 20, 2021), compared to the 11th month (January 20 through February 18, 2021), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration’s website.
The spokesman stressed that the value of Iran's imports amounted to $4.13 billion in the 12th month (February 19 through March 20, 2021).
Latifi added that Iran imported 551,000 tons of goods worth $1.19 billion from the UAE in 12th month. This is an increase of 13 percent in terms of value and 48 percent in terms of volume compared to the 11th month.
“Furthermore, Iran imported 301,000 tons of goods worth $965 million from China in the 12th month. The imports from China decreased by 6 percent in terms of value and 2 percent in terms of volume compared to the 11th month,” he said.
The official noted that at the same time, Iran imported 436,000 tons of goods worth $506 million from Turkey in 12th month of the last Iranian year. This is an increase of 18 percent in terms of value and 21 percent in terms of volume compared to previous month.
According to Latifi, Iran imported 97,000 tons of goods worth $172 million from Germany in 12th month. The imports from Germany increased by 18 percent in terms of value and decreased by 48 percent in terms of volume compared to the 11th month.
“In 12th month, Iran imported 99,000 tons of goods worth $138 million from India. The imports increased by 31 percent in terms of value and decreased by 55 percent in terms volume,” he added.
The spokesman also said that Iran imported 1.48 million tons of goods worth $2.97 billion from the five countries in the 12th month. So, these countries accounted for 72 percent of Iran's total imports in terms value and 56 percent in terms of volume.
Latifi noted that the value of Iran's foreign trade turnover amounted to $7.45 billion in the 12th month.
