Georgia’s subsistence minimum up

Georgia’s subsistence minimum increased in April 2021, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The living minimum wage for working-age men increased by 3.2 lari (94 cents) to 202.8 lari ($59.33) in April.

The subsistence minimum for average household increased by 2.8 lari (82 cents) compared to the previous year and stood at 179.6 lari ($52.54).

Compared to the previous month, the minimum amount required for subsistence has increased by 1.8 lari (53 cents) for able-bodied men and 1.5 lari (44 cents) for the average consumer.

The National Statistics Office calculates the value of the subsistence minimum on the basis of the minimum cost of items in the food basket .

The minimum food basket contains 40 different products such as bread, cereals, meat, dairy products, vegetables, and confectionery.
