Cargo transportation to Nakhchivan AR increases 3.2% in 1Q

In January to March 2006 the volume of cargo transportation to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) grew 3.2%, the passenger transportation rose 5.3% as compared to this period of 2005, the Permanent Representation of NAR in Baku told Trend.

In this period the transport enterprises of Nakhchivan have transported 160,100 tons of cargo and 10145,400 passengers.

Incomes from cargo and passenger transportation totaled to 5689,900 manats, or 7.6% more than last year.

The State Statistics Committee announced in January to March 2006 the transport sector of Azerbaijan transported 30.7 million tons of different cargo, which exceeds the last year figure by 10.7%. 52.6% of the total cargo transportation fell on private sector. Over the first quarter of 49.8% of the entire transportation was carried out by automobile transport, 16.5% - pipelines, 23% - railway and 10.7% - shipment.
