Azerbaijan SCC was submitted computer equipment for upgrade of customs service

Today the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan Republic hold a ceremony of handover of computer equipment for the Committee within the framework of the joint project of European Commission (EC) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for Modernization of Customs Services in Azerbaijan.

The chairman of SCC Aydin Aliyev also participated at the event, noting that at the moment, the database in the sphere of contraband is expanded and the work is held in the sphere of staff reform.

The technique for the SCC was bought within the joint one-year project financed by EC and UNDP launched in 2006.

Aimed at modernizing the customs service of the country, the 900,000 EUR project envisages the upgrading of the customs legislation in conformity with modern international standarts, in particular the European Customs Code and support in improvement and implementation of the SCC strategy on the development of information technologies (IT).

The event brought together the president-coordinator of UNO and president-representative of UNDP Marco Barsotti, special representative of EC Alan Vaddams and others.

The participants visited the customs museum created in the Committee where an agreement was signed on submitting the technique to Azerbaijan. The document was signed by Barsotti and Aliyev.
