The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan reportedly requested technical assistance from the International Monetary Fund with the purpose of implementing new national accounts for shadow economy accounting and interindustrial balance upgrading. Arif Veliyev, chairman of the committee, told Trend at the moment Azeri officials are talking to IMF on the matter.
He said shadow economy accounting requires special inspection system, expert calculations, in which respect international experts assistance is requested.
According to the Committee, shadow economy today is 20%. Veliyev disproved the statements on 40-50% shadow economy in Azerbaijan.
