Within the works on the construction and reconstruction of automobile roads in Azerbaijan, there is a great demand for bitumen, Trend has been told at the Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan. Several variants, especially increasing of bitumen acquisition, are being considered to settle this question.
Over seven months of 2006, nearly 27 thousand tons of oil bitumen were obtained for the construction and reconstruction of automobile roads. This indicator equaled 3850 t. in 2002, 9321 t. in 2003, 18 667 t. in 2004 and 21 830 t. in 2005.
Over the period of January-July 2006, bitumen production in Azerbaijan was reported at 78.8 th. t., which exceeds last years figure by 38.2%.
Production of asphaltic concrete within seven months of this year reached 558 th. t. This indicator equaled 493.5 t. in 2005, 74 th. t. in 2002, 230 th. t. in 2003 and 380 th. t. in 2004.
