Ford denies four-door Mustang rumors, announces Interceptor

(autoinsidernews) - In an attempt to put an end to the rumors concerning plans for a four-door Mustang, Ford released a statement, which denies any plans for four-door or wagon variants of the Mustang. Ford says that the Mustang will remain linked to its iconic heritage and there are no plans to expand the Mustang lineup, reports Trend.

Ford did confirm that it will reveal a four-door, rear-wheel-drive concept car, which will be called The Interceptor, at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The Interceptor concept is based off the Mustang's rear-wheel drive platform, but it is not a Mustang and will not carry any Mustang styling cues. Ford has not announced any production plans for the Interceptor concept.
