Business Materials 30 December 2006 11:57 (UTC +04:00)

The proposal on postponing the next 6th meeting of the TRACECA transport corridor till September 2007 was put forward during the meeting of the National Secretaries of the member-states of TRACECA. Akif Mustafayev, the TRACECA National Secretary for Azerbaijan, told Trend that earlier it had been expected to be held at the end of the first half of the next year.

The meeting will be held in Astana as it was expected earlier. The postponement of the date is explained by the fact that holding a conference on cooperation with EU in the field of transport is expected to be held. Representatives of Russia and Belarus, which are not members of TRACECA are also expected to be held in this event.

During the forthcoming meeting, Bulgaria will hand the baton of the chair of the Organization to Kazakhstan. Rustan Djenalinov, the State General of the Organization, representing Kazakhstan will keep on sitting in his chair.

According to Mr. Mustafayev, during the sitting, a possibility of cooperation to participate as an observer in the Egypt transport corridor is expected to be viewed. Egypt has recently put forward such a proposal. To date, six countries have agreed on this issue and gave a positive reply. The rest of the countries proposed their decision on the above-mentioned issue.
