Tariffs for oil transportation via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline "are normal": SOCAR Head

Tariffs for the transportation of oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) are normal, "within which we can work",  President of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) Rovnag Abdullayev said on Dec. 26, commenting on the information spread in the media outlets about of Turkey's losses within the BTC project.

"Talks are being held in this regard. We will study the losses and the causes of the losses. I think that today's tariffs are normal, and we can work within those tariffs," Abdullayev said.

He said that if there is any change as a result of any circumstance, "the Turkish Botas company must submit and prove them. And then we can consider it".

The total length of BТС is 1.768 kilometers. Pumping capacity is 60 million tons of oil per year.

In mid-2008, pipeline capacity has reached one million barrels of oil per day, and operations on increasing the capacity of the BTC to 1,2 million barrels per day through the use of the chemical reagents to reduce friction forces are completed in March 2009.

BTC Co. shareholders include BP (30.1%); AzBTC (25%); Chevron (8.90%); Statoil Hydro (8.71%); ТРАО (6.53%); Eni (5%); Total (5%); Itochu (3.40%); Inpex (2.50%); ConocoPhillips (2.50%) and Amerada Hess (2.36%).
