In 2009 the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) (except joint ventures and operating companies) drilled 168,200 meters compared to about 203,000 meters during the same period of 2008, SOCAR said.
More than 160,300 meters fell on operational drilling and 7,856 meters on exploratory drilling from SOCAR's total drilling in 2009.
In December, SOCAR drilled about 12,770 meters.
In 2008, SOCAR drilled about 190,376 meters.
