Azerbaijan, Baku, June 9 / Trend S. Suleymanov /

Partners on the project of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) negotiate with Tengizchevroil (operator of the field development Tengiz in Kazakhstan) on tariffs on transportation of Kazakh oil via this pipeline, SOCAR said.

In October 2008, the U.S company Chevron began to transport Tengiz oil via the BTC.

However, late last year, transportation of Kazakh oil through BTC was terminated.

Today, oil from this field is transported by railway through the territory of Azerbaijan in the direction of the Georgian Black Sea ports.

About 5.5 million tons of Kazakh oil has been transported from the field Tengiz since October 2008 through the territory of Azerbaijan. Tengiz oil was transported in this period, both via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and by railway through the route Azerbaijan-Georgia.
