Tekfen Construction mobilizes forces to start construction of SOCAR new headquarter

In September, the Turkish company Tekfen Construction plans to begin construction of new headquarters of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Baku, a source in the company said.

He said at present operations are underway to start construction works.

"At present, the company mobilizes forces to start construction. It is scheduled to start the works in September. The work will be completed within three years", the source said.

Earlier Tekfen Construction signed a new contract of USD 235 million for the turnkey construction of SOCAR's (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic) new headquarter complex in Baku.
Starting in June 2010, the project is scheduled for completion within 32 months.

Designed by Heerim Architects form South Corea, the two towered project will rise from an elongated, canopy-like podium and snake their way skywards

SOCAR has already bought land at the Heydar Aliyev Avenue for its new administrative building.

Covering an area of 12,000 square metres and providing 100.000 sqm of usage area, the headquarter will mainly house office space but will also have conference and sports facilities, a guest house and retail spaces, food outlets to keep the expected 2000 employees in the tower firing on all cylinders.
