Within operational drilling the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has drilled more than 3,500 meters on the field "8 March" in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, a source in SOCAR said.
He said the process of drilling the well, the designed depth of which is 5,800 meters, will be completed by late 2010 - early 2011. "Currently, drilling continues at a normal pace. It will be commissioned in late 2010 or early 2011," the source said.
Estimated daily debit of the well is about 350,000 cubic meters of gas and 40 tons of condensate.
At present, over 400,000 cubic meters of gas is extracted from the "8 March" field. The Company's geologists have already defined nine points for further drilling.
There are 59 oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan. About 8 are offshore, others - onshore.
