The Azerkimya Production Union and the French Air Liquide have discussed building chemical plants in Azerbaijan, SOCAR reported.

During the meeting in Baku, the sides discussed energy, chemical plants, the construction of installations to produce high-purity gas from cracking gases and the use of other technological innovations.

The French company also got acquainted with the PU's capacity and inspected a number of companies included in its composition.

In 2010, Oil and Gas Enterprises of SOCAR produced 7.28 million tons of oil and more than seven billion cubic meters of gas. Together with foreign partners SOCAR involved in major projects such as the development of  the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields and Shah Deniz gas field in the Caspian Sea. SOCAR includes Production Union Azneft (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea), Production Union Azerkimya (chemical industry), Production Union Azerigaz (gas distribution). SOCAR is the only oil producer in the country (it has two refineries), and also owns petrol stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine. SOCAR is co-owner of the largest Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim. Through its sales division- SOCAR Trading Company carries out the oil trade in various regions of the world.

Group of companies Air Liquide is a world leader in production of gases for industry, health and environmental protection and has 42,300 employees in more than 75 countries. The company's revenues amounted to 12 billion euros, the profit - 1.23 billion euros in 2009.

Technological innovations Air Liquide are used to reduce energy consumption of industrial companies and  reduce emissions of pollutants, for proper use of natural resources and energy sources of the future, such as hydrogen, biofuels or solar light.
