Azerbaijan expected to supply two billion cubic meters of gas to Russia next year

In 2012 the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to supply 2 billion cubic meters of gas to Russia within a medium-term contract signed between SOCAR and Russian Gazprom, SOCAR senior official said on Wednesday.

In 2012 the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to supply 2 billion cubic meters of gas to Russia within a medium-term contract signed between SOCAR and Russian Gazprom, SOCAR senior official said on Wednesday.
The contract envisages a supply of 1 billion cubic meters of gas in 2011 with the possibility for a further increase. SOCAR officials said that an increase is not yet envisaged in the current volume for 2012.
In 2010 SOCAR supplied about 800 million cubic meters of gas to Russia as part of the contract.
The medium-term contract (with the possibility of extension) was signed between SOCAR and Gazprom in Baku on Oct. 14, 2009. According to the addendum to the contract signed in early September 2010 in Baku, Gazprom will receive 2 billion cubic meters in 2011 and over 2 billion cubic meters in 2012.
Supplies of Azerbaijani gas to Russia began on Jan. 1 last year.
