Azerigaz Production Association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will present the German E. ON all data needed to conduct a feasibility study (FS) of a project for the reconstruction of gas supply system of Baku and Absheron peninsula by Dec. 15, SOCAR. told Trend.
The German company will prepare a feasibility study within six months of receipt of all necessary materials and data and their analysis, the source added.
The project envisages minimizing gas losses, expanding the existing gas distribution system, its reconstruction and renewal, taking into account the population growth and sustained development of industry, as well as meeting the increasing gas demand in the future.
The feasibility study will be developed in accordance with the norms and standards used in Germany and in other Western countries.
Baku and Absheron Peninsula's gas system is the largest in the country and covers about 650,000 subscribers. Some 90 percent of the existing infrastructure should be updated to reconstruct and modernize the system.
A total of 800-900 million euros may be spent for the project.
