BTC transports over 22 million tons of oil in Jan.-Sept.

In January-September, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 22.9 million tons of oil compared to over 25.3 million tons in the same period of 2011, a SOCAR report says on Wednesday.

As of October 1 2012, some 198.7 million tons of oil have been transported through the pipeline during the whole period of its operation.

Over 32.2 million tons of Azerbaijani oil has been transported through BTC in 2011 against 37 million tons in 2010.

Some 22.28 million tons of oil have been supplied to world markets from the Ceyhan Turkish port in January to September against around 24.67 million tons in January to September 2011.

As of October 1 2012, 196.3 million tons of Azerbaijani oil has been supplied to world markets from Jeyhan during the whole period of its operation.

Over 32.08 million tons of oil has been supplied to world markets from the Turkish port of Ceyhan in 2011 against 37.3 million tons in 2010.

The total length of BТС is 1768 kilometres including a 443 kilometre section running via Azerbaijan, the 249 kilometre section via Georgia and the 1076 kilometre via Turkey.

Construction of the pipeline began in April 2003 and it was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

The shareholders of BTC are BP (30.1 per cent), AzBTC (25 per cent), Chevron (8.90 per cent), Statoil (8.71 per cent), TRAO (6.53 per cent), Eni (5 per cent), Total (five per cent), Itochu (3.40 per cent), Inpex (2.50 per cent), ConocoPhilips (2.50 per cent) and Hess (2.36 per cent).
