SOCAR carried out drilling operations, excluding joint ventures and operating companies to a total of 21,802 metres in January-February 2014, compared to 24,559 metres in January-February 2013, SOCAR said on March 6.
Some 21,734 metres of the total volume of drilling operations conducted by SOCAR in January-February 2014 fell to exploitation drilling (22,197 metres in January-February 2013) and the rest to exploration.
SOCAR carried out 142,656 metres of drilling operations in 2013 compared to 136,441 metres in 2012. Some 135,665 metres of drilling work carried out in 2013 fell to exploitation drilling and 6991 metres fell to exploration drilling.
SOCAR includes the production association Azerneft (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea), Azerkimya (chemical industry enterprises) and Azerigaz (gas distribution).
Jointly with foreign partners, SOCAR participates in such big projects as the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of oil and gas fields and Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Caspian Sea.
