Baku, Azerbaijan, Aug. 25
By Maksim Tsurkov - Trend:
The explosion on the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline in Turkey didn't affect the operation of the Shah Deniz platform in Azerbaijan, BP Azerbaijan told Trend August 25.
BP Azerbaijan operates the field's development and the gas pipeline's sections running in Azerbaijan and Georgia.
The company said the field's output is gradually increasing after maintenance work and resumption of the platform's operation.
"Three to four days are needed to completely fill the pipeline with gas from the field," said BP Azerbaijan. "Since the production at Shah Deniz was resumed on Sunday evening, the pipeline's filling has only just begun, and gas hasn't yet reached Turkey."
On Sunday evening, BP resumed the natural gas production at the largest gas and condensate field Shah Deniz in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
The production at the field was suspended earlier due to maintenance work on the platform.
An explosion occurred on the night of Monday to Tuesday on the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline's section in the city of Sarikamis of Turkey's Kars province.
A terrorist attack is seen as the main reason for the explosion.
