The consumption of petroleum and other liquid fuels in the world will increase to 95.22 million barrels per day in 2016, the December short-term forecast of the Energy Information Administration (EIA) says.

In 2014 the world consumption of petroleum and other liquids hit 92.45 million barrels per day. In 2015 it is projected at 93.82 million barrels per day.

According to EIA, the global consumption of liquid fuels amounted to 92.8 million barrels per day in the first quarter of 2015, 93.38 million barrels per day in the second quarter, 94.69 million barrels per day in the third quarter. The forecast for the consumption in the fourth quarter of 2015 is 94.37 million barrels per day.

The global consumption of liquid fuels in the first, second, third and fourth quarters of 2016 is projected at 94.23 million barrels per day, 94.75 million barrels per day, and 95.99 million barrels per day and 95.87 million barrels per day respectively.
