By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

The gas processing and ethylene production has been started at the gas chemical complex being under construction in Kiyanly of Balkan region of Turkmenistan, the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper wrote July 7.

The pre-commissioning activities are being carried out on technological installations and auxiliary equipment, as well as on one of the main production sites-ethane cracking site at the enterprise, which will produce high-density polyethylene and polypropylene. The commissioning of the enterprise has been planned for September this year.

Five billion cubic meters of natural gas will be processed and 381,000 tons of high-density polyethylene and 81,000 tons of polypropylene will be produced here annually. At the same time, up to 4.5 billion cubic meters of commercial gas will be produced. The project worth more than $ 3.4 billion is implemented by the Turkmengas State Concern together with LG Corporation and Hyundai Motor Company (Republic of Korea) and TOYO Engineering Corporation (Japan).

"The uniqueness of this gas chemical complex is that the phased processes of purification, separation into fractions, thermal cracking and polymerization of olefins from raw gas will be implemented here," the message says.

Another gas chemical complex for the production of polypropylene, linear low-density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, as well as caustic soda, hydrochloric acid, liquid chlorine is planned to be built on the Caspian coast. In addition, a project is being developed for the construction of a methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) plant in Kiyanly through the processing of 4,000 tons of ethylene gas and 2,000 tons of methanol per year. The intermediate products of the new gas chemical complexes will be used as raw materials at that plant.
