President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the German ILF Consulting Engineers company Adolf Feizlmayr, the state news agency "Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary" (TDKh) reported.

Feizlmayr expressed interest of the business community of his country in increasing business contacts with Turkmenistan.

The sides also held a conversation about the prospects of joint work. The fuel and energy complex and the provision of appropriate services in the design and construction of infrastructure facilities were identified as the priority areas of cooperation.

In particular, the topic of partnership in the practical implementation of the project of construction of the TAPI transnational gas pipeline (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India), which plays an important role in the sustainable development of the region, strengthening peace and stability throughout the world, was touched upon, the agency noted.

Feizlmayr also offered the services of the company in the drafting of concept of development of energy sector of Turkmenistan, taking into account the gas as the main source and renewable energy resources.

The Turkmen leader focused on the possibilities of using associated gas, large volumes of which are available in Turkmenistan, thanks to oil and gas developments, as well as solar energy, proposing to discuss this issue with the Turkmen experts.

"At the same time, the head of state stressed the importance of the environmental component of these projects," the agency said.

The ILF Consulting Engineers company provides technical support to the TAPI gas pipeline project. This 1,840-kilometre-long pipeline project is designed to deliver natural gas from Turkmenistan to India, including several gas off-take stations in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The project is planned to be implemented in two phases, and after full commissioning, will export up to 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year for the period of 30 years.

The "Turkmengas" State Concern carries out active work on the development of infrastructure of the "Galkynysh" field, which will serve as a raw material base for the pipeline. On December 13, 2015, the ceremony of launch of construction of the Turkmen section of TAPI was held near this field.

China is the main importer of Turkmen gas at the moment. In early 2016, the traditional importer of Turkmen gas, Russian Public Joint Stock Company Gazprom unilaterally declared the termination of a long-term contract, signed in 2003.
