Turkish Zorlu Energy looks to invest in Kazakhstan's solar energy dev't

Turkish Zorlu Energy company is looking to establish its branch in Kazakhstan’s Almaty city, Trend reports with reference to Turkish media.

The branch’s operations will be aimed at investments attraction to the area of renewable energy, solar energy and other energy spheres.

The information said that Zorlu Energy company is especially interested in investing in Kazakhstan’s solar and wind energy, as well as planning to implement projects to expand country renewable energy capacities by at least 250 MW.

Based on some estimates, Kazakhstan’s potential for solar energy production ranges from 3.9 to 5.4 billion WH per year, whereas the ‘ceiling’ of wind power is 920 billion kWh per year.

Currently, 90 RES facilities of 1,050 MW of capacity are operating in Kazakhstan including 19 wind parks (283.8 MW), 31 solar parks (541.7 MW), 37 hydropower plants (222.2 MW) and three biopower plants.

The number of RES facilities is to be increased from 90 to 108 with the total capacity of 1,655 MW this year.

Established in 1993, Zorlu Enerji is an energy company that aims to operate on different fields of energy sector providing a global scale integrated service.
