Gas supply projects for Kazakh cities to help improve social conditions of citizens

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec.1

Trend:

Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev and the Kyzylorda region’s head Gulshara Abdykalikova visited the city of Baikonur during a working trip to the region, Trend reports referring to the ministry’s press service.

As earlier reported, on April 3, 2019, during the official visit of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Russia’s Moscow, an agreement was signed between governments of the two countries on gas supply to the ‘Baikonur’ complex (formed by the city and Cosmodrome leased to Russia), which was ratified by the Law of Kazakhstan dated March 26, 2020, No. 305-VI ЗРК.

The agreement envisions the transfer of consumers from liquefied petroleum gas to natural gas, ensuring a stable supply of affordable and environmentally friendly fuel - natural gas, which is much cheaper than LPG, to consumers of Baikonur city, nearly 60 percent of whom are Kazakh citizens.

By 2020, the implementation of gas supply projects for the city of Kazalinsk and the settlement of Bekezhanov, Shieli district, has begun, which will contribute to improving the social conditions of the region's residents.

Nogaev and Abdykalikova got acquainted with the work of the ‘Baikonyrenergo’ Production-Energy Association in Baikonur. Following the visit, the minister gave a number of specific instructions to the responsible persons.
