Iran is seeking to develop renewable energy and guarantees purchase of renewable electricity generated by small and domestic producers, said the head of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization of Iran Mahmoud Kamani, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The electricity price generated by renewable energy is cheap. The latest price of renewable electricity per kWh is 8,000 rials about (about USD 0.190)," Kamani noted.
As of now, Iran's renewable energy power plants have 905 megawatt of power production capacity - this accounts for one percent of the country's energy production.
Iran looks to increase investments in its renewable energy sector, by guaranteeing the return of profits in four years.
