PA Azneft with the State Oil company of Azerbaijan is going to speed up drilling new wells and exploring Muradkhanli field, Trend reports with reference to SOCAR release.
The last operations at this field Рџallowed discover some new geological structures that raised quantity of extracted reserves.
SOCAR release says oil and oil products prices today fully cover drilling expenses. Enlarged field Muradkhanli is located 400 km offshore Baku and includes two fields, Muradkhanli and Jafarli.
For some objective reasons, these fields are difficult for drilling from geological point of view. Muradkhanli field was discovered in 1971. First well was drilled at the depth of 3,786m and produced 70 ton a day. Further wells gave 500-1,000 ton a day. However, the wells were flooded very quickly, requiring long-tem repairs. There are 60 wells operated at the field today. 15,200 ton of oil has been produced at the field from the beginning of 2006 to date.
