Money transfers to Kazakhstan up by more than 17%

The volume of remittances received by individuals in Kazakhstan from abroad through the money transfer systems amounted to 293.3 billion tenge in January-October this year, Trend reports with reference to Ranking.kz.

This is 17.4 percent more than in the same period last year.

Russia with 149.3 billion tenge is the leader among the countries from which the remittances to Kazakhstan were made. This is 3.1 percent more than in January-October 2017. The country's share was 50.9 percent out of the total funds received by Kazakh individuals from abroad.

South Korea ranks second with 44.5 billion tenge were received from the country, which is an increase of 2.4 times. The country's share increased from 7.5 to 15.2 percent.

Kyrgyzstan is third with 24.5 billion tenge, growth by 54.1 percent year-on-year. Its share rose from 6.4 to 8.4 percent.

As for the money transfer systems used for making remittances to Kazakhstan, the largest volume of transactions account for KoronaPay with 156.7 billion tenge, which is 19.8 percent more year-on-year. The share of the system increased from 52.4 to 53.4 percent of the total funds received in January-October 2018.

Western Union is second with 63 billion tenge, a 29.7 percent growth. The share rose from 19.4 to 21.5 percent.

MoneyGram ranks third with 24.4 billion tenge, which is 2.3 times more than a year before. The share of the system increased from 4.2 to 8.3 percent.
