The Georgian government made a voluntary contribution in support of the projects of the Council of Europe (CoE) in the amount of 500,000 euro within the framework of Georgia’s Chairmanship priorities of the Committee of Ministers at the CoE, Trend reports via the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The corresponding agreement was signed on November 27, 2019 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, David Zalkaliani and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić.
Georgia will be Chairman of Committee of Ministers at the Council of Europe during the period from November 27, 2019, to May 15, 2020.
The chairmanship was handed over to Georgia from France.
As the ministry noted, Georgia will have 4 priorities as Chairman: human rights and environment protection; civil engagement in decision-making process; jurisdiction oriented on children and strengthening of democracy with the engagement of education, culture and youth.
