Average monthly volume of transactions through ATMs rises in Azerbaijan

Over 4,000 people accounted for one payment terminal in Azerbaijan, including ATMs and POS-terminals in January 2021, Trend reports on Mar. 12 referring to the statistics of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

According to the CBA, the average number of Azerbaijani residents per one payment terminal grew by 170 over the year.

The average monthly amount of transactions per ATM reached 544,200 manat ($320,120) for 2,280 transactions, showing a year-on-year decline of 12.6 percent.

Besides, the average monthly volume of one transaction through an ATM during the reporting month equaled 238.6 manat ($140.35), up by 12.5 percent compared to January 2020.

The average monthly number of transactions through POS-terminals amounted to 5,130 manat ($3,020) for 95 transactions, having almost doubled over the year. The average monthly amount of one transaction through a POS-terminal was 54.2 manat ($31.88).

As of late January 2021, 2,740 ATMs operated in Azerbaijan, of which 1,436 are in Baku, and 1,304 in other cities and districts of the country.

The number of POS terminals in the country amounted to 57,409, of which 37,658 were installed in Baku, and 19,751 - in the country’s other cities and regions.
