Iran issues housing loans to low-income families

A total of 223,000 families in Iran were provided with deposit loans in connection with the rent of housing, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran on Housing and Construction issues, Mahmoud Mahmoudzadeh said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to him, many areas have been damaged by the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the past year. In this regard, deposit loans were issued to low-income families to rent housing. As a result, more than 2 million families were registered to receive these loans, and 920,000 of them were found to be eligible for the loans.

Mahmoudzadeh added that 920,000 families were asked to submit their documents and check the accuracy of their documents. Of these, 332,000 of them improved their documents.

Reportedly, in order to rent housing in Iran, the tenant must pay the landlord a certain amount of money as a deposit. This money is returned to the tenant at the end of the contract.

It was planned to be issued loans minimum worth 150 million rials (about $3,570) to families for rent of housing in Iran. These loans are repaid within 36 months and at 13 percent.
