BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. About 6.3 million bank checks worth about 2.66 quadrillion rials (about $63.3 billion) were exchanged in Iran in the 11th month of the last Iranian year (January 21 through February 19, 2022), Trend reports via the report of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, this is a decrease of 1.4 percent in value and 3.5 percent in number, compared to the 10th month of the last Iranian year (December 22, 2021 through January 20, 2022).

"The checks exchanged in the 11th month were mainly registered in Iran’s Tehran Province (31.8 percent in number, 50.8 percent in value), Isfahan Province (10.8 percent in number,7.7 percent in terms of value), Razavi Khorasan Province (7.5 percent in number, 5.2 percent in value)," the statistics said.

According to the statistics, about 5.7 million checks worth 2.33 quadrillion rials (about $55.5 billion) were received in Iran in the 11th month. This is a decrease of 2.5 percent in value and 4.1 percent in number, compared to the 10th month.

The CBI noted that over 567,000 checks worth about 327 trillion rials (about $7.78 billion) bounced in the 11th month.

The bounced checks increased by 7.1 percent in value, and 2.7 percent in number, compared to the 10th month.

The reason for the bounce of checks was the lack of available funds. Thus, 550,000 checks worth 317 trillion rials (about $7.55 billion) bounced for these reasons in the 11th month.

"The checks 97.2 percent in value and 96.9 in number were bounced due to lack of available funds or deficit," the statistics said.
