One Mobile Telephone Per Every 3 Persons in Azerbaijani Nakhchivan Region

Babayeva / There is one mobile telephone per every 3 persons in the Azerbaijani Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR), and there are 110,000 mobile phones and three GSM mobile operators operating in the country, NAR's Communications and IT Minister Rovshan Mammadov said at a conference Regional Innovation Areas - Problems and Solutions on 22 November.

According to Mammadov, telephones were installed in 220 houses in the NAR and 50,500 telephone numbers were put into operation. Every 100 families in the country have 55 stationary telephones.

A total of 222 general schools in the NAR were provided with computers and 110 of them have access to the internet. Every 1,000 people in the NAR have 45 computers and the number of internet-users amounts to 18,000.

Автономия находится в западной части Азербайджана. На севере и востоке граничит с Арменией, на западе и юге с Турцией и Ираном. Общая площадь НАР составляет 5,5 тыс. квадратных километров, численность населения более 360 тыс. человек. Столицей автономии является город Нахчыван.
