More than five million manat have been invested in the implementation of the "People's Computer" project, Best Comp Group director general Rauf Hasanov told Trend today.
He said within the project 9,000 computers were sold, 1,610 of them were sold in Baku, the rest - in regions.
Over 70 percent of the sold equipment falls to laptops.
Totally over 100 netbooks, about 7,950 notebooks and over 940 PCs were sold within the project.
Over 8,955 computers were purchased by teachers and 40 by pupils and students.
The project started in April of 2009. Computers proposed under the project are provided for teachers in secondary educational institutions and are sold on an interest-free loan for up to 12 months and costs by 25-40 percent below market value.
The project included an e-commerce system, allowing computers to be purchasing over the Web at: www.xalqkomp.az.
The project is implemented by HP and Microsoft. Bestcomp Group is a supplier company.
