Azerbaijan familiarizes with Mexican telecommunications companies (PHOTO)

Azerbaijani Communications and IT Minister Ali Abbasov familiarized with the activities of of the Mexican telecommunications companies, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico reported.

Abbasov got acquainted with the companies Telmex and Telcel entering the union of Grupo Carso headed by Carlos Slim.

The meeting was held on Oct.12-13 as part of the Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), which takes place in Mexico. The conference will end its work on Oct. 22.

Abbasov also met with ITU Secretary-General Hamadoun Toure and representatives of several countries, and also spoke at the meeting of the African continent.

Abbasov also met with the Justice of the Superior Court of Mexico City,

Edgar Elias Azar. The sides discussed the development of legal base, conservation of investments in the ICT sector and other issues.

Issues of the Azerbaijan- Mexico bilateral cooperation in information and communication technologies have been discussed at the meeting with Communications and Transportation Minister Juan Molinar Horcasitas, following which the parties signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in ICT.

The postage stamps dedicated to the historical monuments of both countries were presented. The presentation took place as part of the celebrations on the 200th anniversary of the independence of Mexico and the 100th anniversary of the revolution. The national flags of Azerbaijan and Mexico were depicted on the stamps. The image of Azerbaijani historical monument Ateshgah and Teotihuacan's Pyramid of the Moon were issued.
