Russian postal operator to support postal financial services development in Azerbaijan

Russian postal operator "Russian Post" will support the development of postal financial services in Azerbaijan, Russian Post Federal State Unitary Enterprise said in its reports on Monday.
Consulting and technological assistance in use of international money transfers systems of UPU - IFS, STEFI, IFS Light, QCS (Azerbaijani postal operator Azerpoct uses STEFI system) will be provided to regional technical support center for international financial services of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which was created based on the " Russian Post".

Agreement on creating the regional technical support center for international financial services of the UPU will be signed on June 22, 2011 within the 10th International Forum and Exhibition "Pochtovaya Troika 2011" by Director General of the UPU International Bureau Edouard Dayan and head of "Russian Post" Alexander Kiselev.

Russian Federal postal operator has great experience in operating the STEFI system and is one of the leaders in the development of postal financial services. More than 70 percent of total outgoing traffic of international electronic postal money transfers in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, based on the UPU agreement on postal payments, runs through "Russian Post", which makes it the most appropriate base for placement of the regional technical center.

The center's employees will provide qualified support to the CIS countries' postal operators and many other countries of the region in introducing and operating the UPU financial system, installing the necessary software and setting up technological platforms, opening new corridors and creating new payment services.
