Income in Azerbaijani ICT sector hits 1.9 per cent of GDP in 2012

The volume of revenue in the Azerbaijani ICT sector and postal services increased at constant prices by 17.3 per cent and amounted to 1.503.4 billion manat in 2012 compared to 2011, head of the Ministry's office Vidadi Ismayilov said today at the Board of the Communications and IT Ministry as of January-December 2012.

The real growth rate on the ICT sector of the republic for the last period was 16.6 per cent, the telecommunication sector 17.4 per cent, IT 8.6 per cent and the postal sector 18.2 per cent.

Around 75.7 per cent of proceeds obtained from the ICT sector and postal services fell to the share of the private sector in 2012. Around 65.3 per cent of income obtained from the telecommunication sector fell to mobile communications increasing by 14.1 per cent.

The share of income obtained from the ICT sector and postal services, is 1.9 per cent of the GDP.

The official exchange rate is 0,7848 AZN/USD on Jan. 21.
