The e-commerce portal of Azerbaijan Azexport.az has received the official status of the agent of the US Food and Drug Administration, the Head of the Portal Zaur Gardashov told Trend.
Gardashov said this will allow the portal to become a full member of the Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) program of the Amazon trading platform.
This program will allow for ensuring fast delivery of the ordered goods to the US and reducing the cost of delivery by several times. To do this, the entrepreneur will need to place his products in warehouses in the US. As soon as the order is received, the delivery will be carried out not from Azerbaijan, but directly from the warehouse.
"Ten local companies have already expressed desire to join the project. So far, we have selected five pilot companies engaged in the production of cosmetics, honey, jam, confectionery products, textile products, etc. Their participation in the program is still pending approval. Once companies are approved, we will be able to place their products in the logistics center in the USA, and the delivery of the ordered products will be carried out from there by the postal services USPS and Fedex," said Gardashov.
If the project is successful, then a similar model will be implemented in Russia, Ukraine and Turkey, said Gardashov.
"This issue was the subject of discussions with the "Russian Post" (national postal operator of Russia), "Ukrposhta" (state post of Ukraine) and the Turkish transport company MNG Kargo previously. In addition, we, as a member of the Fulfillment by Amazon program, will be able to implement similar projects in those countries where Amazon is represented, for example, in the UK, Germany and France. Amazon enters the market of Turkey this year, where the corresponding website amazon.com.tr will function", said Gardashov.
The azexport.az resource created according to the presidential decree "About creation of common database of goods produced in Azerbaijan” dated September 21, 2016.
The task of the portal, which is managed by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, is to provide information about products of Azerbaijani origin and to arrange a profitable platform for their sale in foreign and domestic markets.
