Electricity imports increase in Georgia

In January-May 2019, Georgia imported 614.101 million kWh of electricity, which is 4.8 percent more than in the same period last year (585.959 million kWh), Trend reports with reference to commersant.ge.

In this period, Georgia imported 74.431 million kWh of electricity from Russia, which is 138.7 percent more compared to the same period of 2018 (31.177 million kWh).

In January-May 2019, Georgia imported 539.67 million kWh of electricity from Azerbaijan, which is by 5.7 million more than in the same period last year (510.459 million kWh).

Unlike imports, export figures are more modest. In the first five months of 2019, Georgia exported 134.504 million kWh, which is 48.6 percent less compared to the same period last year. Electricity was exported to Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
