Azerbaijan's Innovation Center to implement several multidirectional programs in 2021

The Innovation Center subordinated to the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations (ASAN Service) under the President of Azerbaijan will implement a number of multidirectional programs in 202, the center told Trend.

In 2020, the organization held 12 different events, signed documents on cooperation with 140 organizations, 20 of which are foreign, took part in more than 1,500 events, reached agreements in 30 specialized sectors. 360 hours of business trainings were held, support was provided to 83 start-up projects, 334,031 requests were considered, five technological products were created.

In addition, the efforts of the ‘Tech Diaspora’ of Azerbaijan ensured cooperation and exchange of views of 20 Azerbaijani specialists living in different countries of the world in order to strengthen innovative ties.

Some 69 teams took part in the Global Deftech Hackathon project last year, 25 of which were foreign, 34 leaders - from six countries, 13 speakers - from 5 countries, over 500 participants, 11 jury members - from 5 countries.

“In 2020, agreements were reached on the implementation of innovative projects with organizations such as the United Nations Global Compact, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Pasha Holding and Pasha Bank, the US 500 Startups venture capital fund, and the Azerbaijani IDRAK organization,” the center said.

For 2021, six incubation and investment promotion programs, five educational programs, four programs in the areas of 'Tech Diaspora', acceleration, and 45 international events are planned.

On February 19, 2020, the Azerbaijan Innovation House was opened in Silicon Valley (San Francisco, California).
