In 2006 Azerbaijan Mobile Operator Azercell Installed 330 Radio Base Stations

During December 2006 the Mobile Operator of Azerbaijan, Azercell Telecom, installed 30 more radio base stations in Baku and regions of Azerbaijan, Trend reports quoting the statement of the Company. 23 of them are located in Baku and the remaining 7 in Absheron, Sumgait, Khanlar, Akstafa, Gabala, Shamkir and Ali-Bayramly.

In order to provide qualitative communication in every corner of the country to its subscribers, which number has been constantly growing, Azercell increased number of its stations. During 2006 the operator has installed 328 stations in various regions of the republic. Until now Azercell has installed 2 Home Location Registers, 13 Base Stations Controller Systems, 16 Mobile Services Switching Centers and 1,078 base radio stations. Joint venture Azercell Telecom was established on January 19, 1996. Founders were Turkcell ГќletiГѕim Hizmetleri A. S. and Ministry of Communications of Azerbaijan Republic.

Azercell Telecom started its activities on December 15, 1996 offering subscribers mobile telecommunications services based on postpaid system. In 1998 prepaid system was launched with tariff package вЂ" SimSim that was very successful. As being the leader of the market and very dynamic company it's known as the trend setter in mobile telecommunications market in Azerbaijan applying new technologies and offering various tariff packages, products and services that are beyond the customer needs.
