Uzbekistan can earn up to $15 billion on tourism annually if the necessary infrastructure is created, advisor of Chairman of the State Committee for the Development of Tourism of Uzbekistan Sadik Badak announced to local TV channel Uzbekistan24 on April 2.

“According to statistics, 4 billion people are considered travelers in the world, with most of them spending 4-14 days on a travel. We should interest them, because if we can attract at least 15 million guests, our income will be $15 billion,” Badak said.

According to Badak, Uzbekistan is able to receive up to 10 million tourists a year and get some $10 billion.

“It is notable that Uzbekistan can receive tourists all four seasons, but we have to create appropriate infrastructure for that. Uzbekistan is the pearl of Central Asia. Such a potential does not exist in other countries of the region,” the expert said.

According to 2017 data, the number of tourists visiting the country exceeded 2.5 million, what is 24 percent more than in 2016.

Main tasks of the Turkish specialist are participation in development of the tourist infrastructure of the regions of the country, development of proposals for further improvement of legislation etc.
