Production in the railway field in Iran has increased by 143 percent in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 20-April 19, 2020) compared to the same month last year, Managing Director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) Saeed Rasouli said, Trend reports citing the Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
Rasouli said 56 railway vehicles (4 locomotives, 2 passenger wagons and 50 freight wagons) were manufactured in the country within the mentioned month.
"These vehicles were produced by MAPNA Group, Wagon Pars Railroad Company, Foolad Derakhshan Arak Company and Iranian Rail Industries Development Company," he said.
As many as 1.25 trillion rials (about $29.7 million) were spent on the production of the mentioned vehicles.
Regarding transportation of products by Iranian railways, the official sai that 132 million tons of cargo were transported from March 20 to April 26.
Rasouli said that Iran's imports and exports also increased by 151 percent via railways.
