Containers handling on Azerbaijan - Kazakhstan feeder route revealed

The volume of containers handing on the feeder route between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan amounted to 6,636 TEU in 1H2020, a representative of Kazakhstan’s Kazmotransflot (KMTF) National Sea Carrier told Trend.

KMTF official noted that the Aktau - Baku - Aktau regular feeder route was launched in Apr. 2019. KMTF is using Turkestan vessel on this route, the capacity of which is 225 TEU or 105 SFE of containers.

First containers transportation on the route took place on April 16, 2019.

In turn, a total of 6,363 TEU of containers were transported by KMTF in 1H2020, including 4,379 TEU which were transported in direction of Kazakhstan’s Aktau port, and 2,257 TEU of containers, which were transported in direction of Azerbaijan’s Baku port.

KMTF is Kazakhstan’s National Sea Carrier the main activities of which are safe and reliable operation of the fleet, development of national sea trade and service fleets, and increasing the profitability of shipping, both in the Caspian region and beyond.

Currently, there are three operating seaports in Kazakhstan: Aktau, Bautino and Kuryk.

Kuryk Port is located on the coast of the Caspian Sea, south of Aktau city. The port has direct access to the railway tracks. The ferry complex of the port is designed for transshipment of goods, including grain, petroleum products, fertilizers and chemicals.

Nowadays, Aktau International Commercial Sea Port is a modern multi-purpose terminal that allows the transportation of goods from East to West, from North to South and back 12 months a year and 24 hours a day.

Bautino сargo port is a division of Aktau International Commercial Sea Port, and is located in the village of Bautino (150 km from the city of Aktau), in the waters of the Bautino Bay of Tyubkaragansky Gulf.
